My property spans six acres of forest and a half-acre of sunny, open space. When we bought and developed the land, I made a conscious decision not to have a lawn, but instead to fill the space with plants that offer year-round beauty, food for the critters that call this place home, and color in every season. I affectionately refer to my home as Wood Haven. Every tree, plant, and creature—big or small—holds a special place in my heart. I don’t see it as my property; I see myself as a steward to the land and all the life it supports. “\nHere, you’ll encounter well over 200 native plant species, see how I’ve learned to coexist with my local herd of deer, witness my efforts to manage water runoff, and enjoy a peaceful .3-mile hike along my forest path.”\nPlease be sure to wear sturdy shoes as we explore this little corner of nature together!”\n
