DESCRIPTION:Dr. Sally Koerner in the greenhouse, by Jiyoung Park (UNCG)\nWe are so happy that Dr. Sally Koerner will be giving us a peek at the University of North Carolina Greensboro’s new Plant and Pollinator Center (this program was originally scheduled for April). The university’s center is dedicated to understanding plants and pollinators and their dynamic relationship, according to Dr. Koerner, and this work will be the focus of her talk. We will be posting the zoom invitation in September (click on “Read More!”).\nAs a plant community ecologist and co-director of the UNCG Plant and Pollinator Center, Dr. Koerner studies biodiversity in all its facets in grasslands around the world. Here in NC she studies the imperiled longleaf pine savanna. Her research program is dedicated to preserving the native biodiversity we have left as well as restoring degraded lands for conservation purposes.\nPlease register at this link ( https://forms.gle/AvPCM3Vj21p7XQwJ8 ). We will send a Zoom invitation to all registrants and the local Triad NCNPS listserv by October 7th. We hope to have a physically distanced plant exchange this fall, so stay tuned. When we do return to the library, please feel free to bring a native plant to share or save it for fundraisers at the spring and fall outings, or our annual picnic in June. Funds raised support native plant research mini-grants or scholarships to attend the wonderful Cullowhee Native Plant Conference in July.\n
