SUMMARY:Aberdeen Public Library Longleaf Pine Restoration
DESCRIPTION:VOLUNTEERS NEEDED\nJoin us for a hands-on day of environmental stewardship! This project aims to restore local biodiversity by planting longleaf pine trees. If we have enough volunteers this installation of trees should not take more than a couple of hours. \nThe full project involves creating a garden park directly across from the new Aberdeen Public Library. Spanning nearly an acre, the approved plan features much-needed green space for the town, a pollinator garden, pergola, water feature, seating, and additional shrubs—while preserving all existing trees. It will become Aberdeen’s first fully passive garden park.\nWhether you are a seasoned gardener or a first-time volunteer, your help is vital in rebuilding healthy ecosystems for local wildlife. \n* Goal: Re-establish native plant communities to support local pollinators and improve soil health.\n* What to expect: Physically active work including digging and transplanting large container grown pine trees. \n* What to bring: Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a shovel, gloves, a water bottle and sun protection.\n* Perks: Learn about local ecology, meet fellow nature enthusiasts, and see the immediate impact of your hard work. \nSIGN UP: Contact : sandhills@ncwildflower.org with full name, email & phone number \n-There will be a Volunteer Acknowledgement waiver to sign on site.\nWhere: Aberdeen Public Library 123 Exchange Street Aberdeen, NC 28315 / Greenspace across from the library\nDate and Time: Saturday March 28th, 2026 @ 9:30am\nGreenspace\nAberdeen Public Library\n\n
