Join us as Amy Tipton, Assistant Director of UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens, speaks about pollination strategies of plants. Learn about the characteristics of hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and other pollinators that attract them to flowers. She’ll also discuss which groups of plants (in some cases specific species) do this well in our area.\nRegister ( https://uncc.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0sfuugqT8oHt3KikYNgE60ppp4AGBM3aaf )\n \n\nAmy Tipton is the Assistant Director of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens ( https://gardens.uncc.edu/ ). Her Masters in Botany focused on native plant ID and forest ecology, but also included many classes in aquatic ecology. Amy holds bachelor degrees in Drawing and Art History, as well as an MFA in Printmaking. She enjoys botanical drawing. In addition, she enjoys learning about historical female botanists, ecologists and scientific illustrators.\nAmy has taught for over 20 years. Some of her past teaching posts have included teaching drawing, field ecology, and art appreciation at universities, literacy in elementary schools, and life science to 7th graders. She often presents talks for those interested in native plants–native plant societies, natural history societies, regional biology conferences, master gardener’s functions, etc. Since her arrival at UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens in July of 2018, Amy has taught Native Tree ID, Native Shrub ID, Botanical Drawing I & II, and Botanical Watercolor for the Certificate of Native Plant Studies program, in addition to gardening classes.\n
