Earth Day with Kids In Nature Day

Come out with the family and celebrate Earth Day at Squirrel Lake Park as the Habitat and Wildlife Keepers (HAWK), the Town of Matthews, and Great Outdoors University present Kids In Nature Day! 

The NC Native Plant Society will have a table to hand out information and talk with attendees about how native plants create a healthier Earth. If you’re interested in volunteering at the table, please reach out to the Southern Piedmont chapter chair, Craig Maxwell, at craigmaxwellgraphics@gmail.com.

Here’s some of what will be going on:

• Build a birdhouse with the Charlotte Woodworkers’ Association
• Get a free snow cone from Maid Brigade
• Meet Falconers of the North Carolina Falconers Guild and their birds of prey
• Scavenger hunt
• Get a free rain barrel form Coca Cola
• Visit with animals from Carolina Waterfowl Rescue
