White Pines Nature Preserve, Sanford
White Pines Nature Preserve is a 285-acre site owned and conserved by Triangle Land Conservancy to protect a relict stand of white pines (Pinus strobus), a tree more commonly found in higher, cooler climates. We will traverse a wide range of habitats within the preserve, from ridgetop forest above steep bluffs, past thickets of mountain laurel on north facing bluffs, fern covered slopes and floodplain forests along the Deep and Rocky Rivers. Hoping to see mountain laurel in bloom this trip!
