Field Trip to Rachel’s Native Plants Nursery and the Pollinator Paradise Garden, Pittsboro
We will meet at Rachel’s Natve Plants nursery (141 Lorax Ln, Pittsboro) at 10 to tour (and maybe shop?), then head over to the Pollinator Paradise Garden at Chatham Mills to see native perennials in this demonstration garden created by Debbie Roos of the Chatham County Center of NC Cooperative Extension. The garden features over 225 species of perennials, trees, shrubs, vines, and grasses, and 85% of them are native to North Carolina.
Bring a picnic or pick up something at the Food Coop at Chatham Mills.
We’ll end our group trip there, but if you haven’t seen enough you could continue to Dutch Buffalo Farm (Pittsboro) or Dirtbag Garden (west of Chapel Hill). They look to be open on Thursday afternoons till mid-November, though best to check before you go.
